Do You Have a WhatsApp Phone?

In rural India, mobile phones with internet are simply called “WhatsApp phones”.

It is so much easier to explain the concept of WhatsApp to someone and then show them a phone that has WhatsApp, than to explain the concept of the internet and how an internet-enabled phone allows them to do so many things.

This insight is why Facebook and Jio are using street theatre and rural roadshows to promote their services. Love it.

Sometimes it is easier to sell a product on the single feature the customer will grasp as life changing and set the hundreds of other features aside until later.
